The address check
When you enter an address on the check page, it is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder to find the county, and to OpenStreetMap to draw the map — neither of those is logged or kept by HomeCleared.
We also look up the property's owner-of-record using a third-party public-records service, and keep that result (the owner's name and mailing address) tied to the address you entered — whether or not you go on to request a contractor. This is used only to understand the property and is never shown to you on this page or shared with a contractor unless you separately submit the form below.
When you ask to be connected to a contractor
Only if you fill in and submit the contractor form, we collect and keep:
- Your name, phone number, and — if you give it — email.
- The property address, and the county it is in.
- What you told us about the situation: your role, where you are in a sale, the state of the septic or well, and the loan type if you know it.
- Anything you wrote in the notes field.
- A record of your consent — the exact wording you agreed to, and the date — plus the browser you used and the page you came from. We do not store your IP address.
We collect only what a contractor needs to reach you and scope the work, and what we need to check the request is genuine. We do not ask for documents in this form.
How your information is used and shared
- To match you with one licensed contractor for your county and pass them your name, contact details, the property, and the situation so they can help you. The same request is never sold as “exclusive” to more than one contractor.
- To confirm afterward whether the contractor actually contacted you and did the work — we may follow up with you once to ask.
- We do not use your details to build marketing profiles, and we do not sell or rent them. We do not send you marketing email.
- Vendors we rely on to run the site (hosting, our database) process data on our instructions only.
How long we keep it, and your choices
- Lead details are kept while we work your request and for up to 24 months afterward for dispute resolution and to measure whether the service worked, then deleted or anonymised.
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you at any time — email hello@homecleared.com and we will respond within 30 days.
- You can tell a contractor, or us, to stop contacting you at any time and we will honour it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to the people who route and follow up on requests. We scan our code for secrets and vulnerabilities. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will investigate, contain it, and notify you where the law requires.
Terms — the essentials

- HomeCleared is not a government agency and does not act for one.
- We date every answer and cite its source, but rules change — verify anything decision-critical with the named authority.
- Contractors we connect you with are independent businesses. Your agreement for the work is with them, not with HomeCleared.
